Browse Card Shops by Specialty

A specialty tag is how this directory groups shops by what kind of cards they deal in. There are 8 of them, and they are applied from two sources. Most come from the shop's category: a business filed under trading card games is tagged for the three long-established TCGs, and one filed under sports cards is tagged for modern sports, vintage sports and sealed wax. The rest come from a narrow set of rules that read the shop's own name and description looking for a game or a era it has named itself.

That distinction matters when you read the counts below. A category-derived tag is a reasonable statement about what sort of business this is and a poor one about what is in the case: it is applied in bulk, it covers the 2,345 national chain locations in the directory as well as the 4,499 independent shops, and nobody checked a shelf. A name-derived tag is the shop telling you something. Each specialty page says which of the two it is built on and how many of its listings carry the stronger signal.

Counts shown on the cards are total listings carrying the tag, chains included. Because a shop can hold several tags at once — almost every trading card game shop carries four — these numbers overlap heavily and do not sum to the 6,844 listings in the directory.
