How this list is computed

"Popular" on this page means highly rated by Google reviewers. The directory holds no visit, traffic or sales figures for any shop, so rating is the only measure it can use. The rule is simple: take every listing with a Google rating above zero — 4,965 of the 6,844 in the directory — sort by star rating, highest first, break ties by the number of reviews, most first, and show the top 100.

Before sorting, 1,440 rated listings are removed: national chain locations, and venues that are not card shops as such, such as pawn shops, antique malls and smoke shops. That leaves 3,525 eligible shops. Of those, 697 hold a perfect 5.0 — more than the list has room for — so every one of the 100 places goes to a 5.0 shop and the order among them is decided by review count alone — from ThePokeHive with 2,905 reviews at the top to Coffee Dragon Lair with 45 reviews at number 100.

The 100 come from 30 states, led by California (11), Florida (9) and New Jersey (7). This is deliberately a different ordering from the best card shops by state pages, which weight each rating by how many reviews stand behind it, so a small shop with a perfect score from a few dozen reviews can appear here and not there. Ratings are as recorded at the last data refresh (); nobody from Card Shop Hub has visited these shops, so call ahead before a long drive.
